Image result for rap music magazine front cover

The target audience for this magazine is white and black people mostly boys, aged between 13-25 year old. In the NME magazine Eminem is represented as a battler and a person who doesn't quit. The target audience can see this from the cover line which accompanies the picture of Eminem. The camera is at a low angle looking up at Eminem which gives him status and makes him the main feature of the magazine cover. When this is accompanied by the verbal code it gives him even more status because it says "from rehab to recovery" this shows he is mentally strong to get through the rough period of time and fight for the better of his health, and because it says 'recovery' it gives the target audience a clear understanding that he successfully restored his health allowing him to pursue his music career.
from looking at the cover line which accompanies the picture i think it gives the target audience a clear understanding that Eminem has many doubters because it says "stunned the world" you can infer that people may not have had faith in him to get through these bad times but he successfully did, and proved his critics wrong.

Genre

Rap magazines often associate with artist who take drugs or drink alcohol whereas this particular magazine has associated with an artist who has done the complete opposite. Although its the opposite i still think that it is typically of the genre to make these headlines because the target audience can take inspiration from Eminem's success. Also because Eminem is such an icon to the world of rap it shows respect to him that they can talk about his success and see the situation as a positive thing because of the outcome.

Planning

From this task and previous research i know that a lot of magazines normally publish negative topics and look to criticise famous people but this particular magazine cover has taught me that positives can be published and can be the main feature of a magazine.

Evaluation of magazine cover

The name of my magazine is called “4-formation” I called it this because it links to football and that is what my magazine is about, and the target audience would be able to identify this as a football magazine. My magazine targets mostly teenagers (particularly male) who are in to football.

The title of my magazine is positioned at the top of my magazine and is placed in the centre of the page. The title doesn’t really take up a lot of space. The font of the title is bold and big which will stand out to the target audience and draw their attention. The colour of the title corresponds with the main image as they feature the same colour’s think this makes the cover look neater and organised rather than having a big variety of colours and the colour scheme specifically matches this magazine genre.

My magazine cover features three cover lines and one main cover line. The three cover lines are positioned around the main image with the little picture which relate to that article and the main cover line is positioned at the bottom of the main image. For the cover lines I have varied the size of the fonts because the cover lines have a smaller font whereas the main cover line has a bigger font to indicate that this is the main topic inside the magazine. The main cover line has a red filled box and the reason for this is so it stands out on the baby blue of the image and it also corresponds with one of the little images which are scattered around the side. The three other cover lines have a baby blue coloured filled box and this corresponds to the main image.

My magazine cover features three images and one main image. The main image is in the centre of the page and takes up most space. The other three images are much smaller and positioned either side of the main image. All of these images are accompanied by their cover lines.

To complete my magazine cover I have added the little things that some people don’t really take a lot of notice of or don’t really care about, but without these little things a cover wouldn’t be the same. I have added a date, price, issue number and barcode. The barcode is positioned on the bottom right hand corner of the page not really using up a lot of space because it’s not as significant. The date, issue number and price are all positioned above the title in really small white font, and this just gives the audience any addition information but not anything that’s really important to them which is why its not eye catching or bold.

Conventional layout of a magazine cover
Image result for magazine covers tottenham

Hotspur
Men’s health
Spin
Title
the title is neat and simple it is placed at the top of the magazine it also doesn't take up much space, also the image of the man takes up a little bit of the title which gives him status and shows people should already recognise the title and magazine.
the title is placed at the very top of the page taking up a section of the top half of the magazine the colour of the font is red white stands out on the white background. it written in a very simple form so the target audience to see the magazine
the title is positioned in the top left hand page of this cover but is overlapped by the main image this shows that the company expect people to already know the name of this magazine and also gives the person in the image status. it doesnt take up alot of space.
Main cover line
the main cover line says "hugo lloris" which is the name of the man featured on the front cover this cover line also overlaps that image so it is a clear indication to the audience that this is the name of the player, it doesn't take up a lot of space either leaving the main image still very visible
This magazine cover doesn’t feature a stand out cover line it just features around eight normal cover lines that the audience can clearly see
the main coverline is positioned underneath the main image it is in white writing with a black border this makes it stand out to the audience also it doesnt take up alot of space
Cover line
this magazine feature three other cover lines two of them are place on the top left hand side of the magazine they are very neat and simple in the colour white so it stands out on the dark back ground they are also very small but still noticeable the third one is placed on the top right hand corner and is the exact same to the other cover lines.
this magazine cover features eight cover lines which are all positioned around the main image and just underneath the title some of them are red and some are in black and these colours match and stand out on the white background the red font used in the cover lines corresponds with the title. The boldness of these cover lines allow the audience to clearly see what the magazine will feature
this magazine cover has many coverlines which are basically scattered all over the page in black writing and different shapes and sizes. other than the main image and title these coverlines take up all of the page.
Tagline
this magazine doesn't have a specific tagline its just mainly cover lines
This magazine doesn’t feature a catchy tag line I think it doesn’t feature this because of the seriousness of this magazine it doesn’t want to make you laugh it wants to help you change your life style in a positive way so the catchy tag lines don’t need to be on this magazine because it would make the magazine seem fun whereas its not for fun
this magazine doesnt have a specific tagline because the page is filled with coverlines
Price
the price is on the bar code which is placed in the bottom right hand corner of the magazine cover and it is more noticeable when the cover is in full size.
The price is on the bar code which is on the bottom left hand of the cover it doesn’t take up much space and doesn’t interrupt any of the surrounding cover lines and image
from looking at this front cover in a small image i cant see the price this suggest it could be on the inside of the front cover or on the back
Date
the date is very small and noticeable when the magazine is in full size it is places underneath the main title
This magazine from what I can see does not feature a date maybe in full size the date could be visible
from looking at this front cover in a small image i cant see the date this suggest it could be on the inside of the front cover or on the back
Image
the image is placed in the centre of the magazine cover taking up most of the space. the image has some effects such as flames on the arms of the goalkeeper this may symbolise that he is unstoppable.
The image is positioned in the centre of the page taking up most of the space but leaving gaps for the title and the cover lines. The image features a man who is in very good shape which is clear to the audience that magazine is about fitness and health which also matches the title

the main image takes up alot of the front page and slightly to the right of the page and the image also overlaps the title which gives the person in the image a high status because he is covering one of the main things that can be seen as the magazines identity.
