Image result for rap music magazine front cover

The target audience for this magazine is white and black people mostly boys, aged between 13-25 year old. In the NME magazine Eminem is represented as a battler and a person who doesn't quit. The target audience can see this from the cover line which accompanies the picture of Eminem. The camera is at a low angle looking up at Eminem which gives him status and makes him the main feature of the magazine cover. When this is accompanied by the verbal code it gives him even more status because it says "from rehab to recovery" this shows he is mentally strong to get through the rough period of time and fight for the better of his health, and because it says 'recovery' it gives the target audience a clear understanding that he successfully restored his health allowing him to pursue his music career.
from looking at the cover line which accompanies the picture i think it gives the target audience a clear understanding that Eminem has many doubters because it says "stunned the world" you can infer that people may not have had faith in him to get through these bad times but he successfully did, and proved his critics wrong.

Genre

Rap magazines often associate with artist who take drugs or drink alcohol whereas this particular magazine has associated with an artist who has done the complete opposite. Although its the opposite i still think that it is typically of the genre to make these headlines because the target audience can take inspiration from Eminem's success. Also because Eminem is such an icon to the world of rap it shows respect to him that they can talk about his success and see the situation as a positive thing because of the outcome.

Planning

From this task and previous research i know that a lot of magazines normally publish negative topics and look to criticise famous people but this particular magazine cover has taught me that positives can be published and can be the main feature of a magazine.
